We had our choir tour over Spring break! The choir participated on a festival on a cruise to the Bahamas! We earned a superior rating at our festival and, because of this, we were entered into the all-school competition where they will compare our scores with all the choirs that participated this year. We will find out our ranking in May. Students also had a workshop with one of the performers and they had the chance to learn about being a cruise performer.
My favorite part of the trip was the Junkanoo and Rake and Scrape workshop we had in Nassau. We learned about the cultural music, met some of the Bahamas’ top officials, witnessed performances from some of the most famous musicians and dancers in the Bahamas, and learned a Rake and Scrape song which we will be performing in our Around the World concert tomorrow. We also had the chance to perform at the Ministry of Education and Culture and eat the local cuisine. The event appeared on the Bahamas National News that evening. You can check it our here.

We also had a flash mob performance on the cruise and the students went karaoking pretty much every night. We were able to see multiple performances of all types every day! We ended the trip with bowling and a scavenger hunt at Disney Springs in Orlando. It was a lot of fun and a great bonding experience for the students! Here are some pictures and videos from the trip.
